School bus tracking
Parents see the school bus live and stop calling the office
The driver shares location from a phone. Parents see the bus on a map in the app and get a notification as it comes near their stop. Routes and bus fees sit in the same system.
- No GPS hardware needed, just the driver phone
- Near-stop alerts for parents in the app
- Routes, stops and bus fees together

Sound familiar?
"Where is the bus?" calls
Every morning and evening, the office and drivers get calls from worried parents.
Children wait too long at the stop
Without knowing when the bus will come, children stand at the roadside in sun and rain.
Bus fees tracked separately
Route lists, stop charges and bus fee payments live in different books and rarely match.
What you get
Driver GPS from a phone
The driver logs in to the Staff Management section of the app and turns tracking on. A secure driver link in the phone browser also works.
Live map for parents
Parents open Bus in the app and see their child's bus on a map, with a status showing if it is live, delayed or offline.
Near-stop notifications
Families at a stop get an app notification when the bus is about 1 km away, about 300 m away and when it reaches the stop.
Vehicles, routes and stops
Add buses, create routes and list stops in order. One bus can run more than one route, such as two shifts.
Live fleet view
The transport manager sees every bus and its status on one screen, plus recent route alerts.
Bus fees by stop and month
Set a monthly fee for each stop, choose the months each student uses the bus, and collect at the bus fees desk with receipts.
See the screens
| Route | Bus | Stops | Students |

| Route A | TS 21 XX 1234 | 9 | 42 |
| Route B | TS 21 XX 5678 | 11 | 51 |
| Route C | TS 21 XX 9012 | 7 | 33 |
How it works

How live bus tracking works
You do not need to fit GPS devices in your buses. The driver's Android phone does the job. The driver logs in to the Staff Management section of the Nipun Schools app with the bus driver role and turns tracking on. The phone then sends the bus location every few seconds. If you prefer, the office can give the driver a secure link that works in the phone browser.
Parents open the Bus screen in the app and see the bus for their child's route on a map. The screen also shows if the location is live, delayed or offline, so a parent knows when the last update came in.
For each stop, the system watches the bus as it comes closer. Families at that stop get an app notification when the bus is about 1 km away, again at about 300 m, and when it arrives. Children can step out at the right time instead of waiting at the roadside.
Tracking needs the driver's phone to have mobile data and GPS on. If the signal drops, parents see the bus as delayed or offline until it returns.
Routes, stops and bus fees in one place
Transport setup has three parts: vehicles, routes and bus stops. For each stop you set a monthly bus fee. Then you assign each bus student a route and a pickup stop. One bus can serve more than one route, for example a first and second shift.
Bus fees are collected at their own desk, separate from tuition. Choose which months a student uses the bus, collect for one student or many, and print receipts. A discount on bus fees shows on the receipt and in reports. Parents can see their bus pass in the app.
Transport managers get their own role in the app, with a live fleet view, routes and the list of riders. Bus drivers see their own students. Read more about fee collection and the parent app.
Questions schools ask
Do we need to buy GPS devices?
No. Tracking uses the driver's Android phone with mobile data and GPS turned on.
What happens if the driver's phone loses signal?
Parents see the bus as delayed or offline until the signal returns. The driver should keep tracking on for the whole trip.
Do parents get alerts?
Yes. Families at a stop get app notifications as the bus comes within about 1 km, about 300 m, and when it arrives.
Can one bus run two routes?
Yes. One bus can be linked to more than one route, such as a first and a second shift.
Can parents pay bus fees online?
Not at present. Bus fees are collected at the school's bus fees desk with a printed receipt.
